Visitation Policy

Citizens Medical Center is committed to taking critical steps to ensure public health and safety and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities and community.

Pursuant to Act No. 367: R.S. 40:2005, R.S. 40:2005.1, and R.S. 40:2009.4:

  1. Any person eighteen years or older may designate those individuals who will not be denied access to visit them in person during any stay in any hospital.
  2. Members of the clergy will be allowed to visit patients during a public health emergency whenever a patient or the legal or designated representative of the patient requests the visit. Special consideration shall be given to patients receiving end-of-life-care.
  3. Immediate family members and other designated persons will be allowed to visits patients during a public health emergency whenever a patient or the legal or designated representative of the patient requests the visit. Special consideration shall be given to patients receiving end-of-life-care.
  4. Proof of vaccination or immunization is not required.

Goal:

It is the goal of Citizens Medical Center to allow the patient to receive as many visitors as they wish.

Precautions:

  1. Maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others
  2. Practice good hygiene, wear a mask, cover cough and sneezing, wash hands frequently, and/or use hand sanitizer
  3. Protect others: stay home when sick

Visitation Types:

  1. Inpatient:
    1. Inpatient visitation will be allowed between the hours of 5 :00 am and 10:00 pm, unless HCP deems a 24-hour caregiver is needed during the patients stay.
    2. If a 24-hour caregiver is needed for a hospitalized patient; Support persons will be allowed to stay overnight. Additional visitors may visit during visiting hours.
    3. Parents/Guardians of pediatric patients will be allowed at a time to stay overnight during their inpatient stay.
    4. Any patient admitted as a Person Under Investigation (PUI) or diagnosed as COVID-19 positive will be allowed 2 visitors at a time. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.
  2. Emergency Room:
    1. ER patients will be allowed 1 visitor if the patient is assigned to single occupancy rooms (ER #1 and ER #3).
    2. Patients assigned to ER #2 will only be allowed a visitor if they are the only patient assigned to the room.
    3. If there is more than one patient assigned to ER #2, no visitors will be allowed, and we will attempt

The patient has the right to visitors anytime between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm.

Flexibility in visiting hours will be allowed in special circumstances, such as, a visitor coming in from out of town or working extended hours, etc.

If a patient is gravely ill or requires someone at their bedside, visitors will be allowed to stay throughout the night.

Visitors will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and etc.

The patient has the right to limit or restrict visitors at any time.

Minor patients are allowed to have a parent or guardian with them at all times without limitations.

In the event of an epidemic, pandemic, and etc., this policy can be null and void in accordance to state, government, and hospital laws.
