Emergency Department

With the only 24/7 ER services in Caldwell parish, CMC is staffed with physicians highly trained in Emergency Medicine for minor and life-threatening medical emergencies. Dr Frederick Yates leads the group of physicians that rotate through our ER that is always open.

Dr Chad Soileau, Emergency and Internal Medicine trained, is the newest doctor to join our group. He is originally from Ville Platte, and he trained in Pennsylvania. Dr Bryant Boyd, Emergency Medicine trained, is also the Department Head at Willis Knighton Bossier Health Center. Dr Tri Pham is in Family Practice with many years in Emergency Medicine, and he works at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center ER in Shreveport. Dr John Harrison, Internal Medicine, works in the Willis-Knighton Health System as well. Dr Galen Pizzorno, Emergency Medicine trained, also works the ER at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Our ER is staffed with Registered Nurses who reflect many years of experience and are trained in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service), and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).

TNKase® Acute Myocardial Infarction Treatment is stocked in the ER and is used to treat heart attacks (commonly known in the community as the “heart attack shot”). Activase® Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) is stocked as well and is frequently used to treat certain stroke patients. All Nurses and Doctors are trained to administer these urgently needed lifesaving medications.

CroFab®, an antivenom used to treat snake bites, is always on hand. CMC usually treats at least six snake bites each summer. In fact, most hospitals even in Monroe do not stock this medication for ready use, so it’s important to have this service available close to home.

CT Scans, Ultrasound, ECHO, MRI, and X-rays are some of the diagnostic imaging studies that are available in the ER to help treat your condition quickly, along with advanced state-of-the-art lab equipment that is staffed 24/7 to help the Doctor diagnose and treat your condition.
